Cleaning out your closet

The first quarter of the year has passed and this is as good a time as any to do your first “check-up” for the year. Look at the things that you promised yourself you would do this year, have you started any? Has anything been accomplished yet? One of the ways you can shake yourself into action is cleaning, and a great target for this is your closet.

At first this seems like a daunting task,. The key is to break it up into manageable tasks. First, you are going to get three bags or boxes, label them “Keep”, “Throw”, and “Give away” respectively.

Then you take all your clothes out of your wardrobe and chest of drawers, dresser and or cupboard, everything. After which, meticulously go through each piece checking for rips, tears, discolouration, missing buttons, spoilt zippers. This will go into you “Throw” pile. Then look at the things that are too small, too big, you bought but never wore (if it has been there for over a year chances are you are not going to wear it...ever).
And there are those pieces that while you have worn them before, for some reason or another you have come to terms with the fact that it will never be worn again. These are going into your give away pile. So the remainder should be the pieces that you are keeping. some trying on will be necessary from time to time, just to ensure that the piece chosen not only can fit, but fits well.

These are not just going into a pile but I want you to look carefully at the care instructions. Should this be dry-cleaned, or can I care for it at home?  If they are dry clean pieces, put these aside to carry to the dry cleaners. The others that can be cared for otherwise you can put in your basket to iron, or fold for the pieces that can just be folded and put away. Now just looking back at your closet after this gives your system a jolt, there is so much room that you wonder for awhile what do you even wear. However, the fact of the matter is for most of us we only wear about ten percent of our clothing eighty percent of the time. So this actually is a good way of attempting to start balancing things out.

Don’t you think?
Peace!

Yeah so I head off to work only to realize going is really slow. My eye hurts...BIG TIME! and forget about depth perception. this is now fondly remembered.  I'm have to stop.... will continue tomorrow.

Time counting down...

I really wanted to go the blog thing seriously. I knew that I wanted to write and just let my mind out of the box but so far life keeps intruding...I am planning my wedding and right now it feel like time is just ticking away without me getting into the grove of things. I am reading other blogs and people, other brides are doing sooooo much. Makes me feel like I am at a stand still. Hey 6 months and a week to go right, I'll get into it it.
